Rich Mostardi, Director of Tennis
Director of Tennis, Rich Mostardi, is renowned for his unique accomplishments as a coach, including 11 former students who became state champions, one ranked in the Top 30 on the professional tour, and thousands of happy students of all ages who improved while enjoying their experience. Rich is known for extremely high energy, perceptive instruction, and constant communication during his lessons. Students drive from neighboring states, such as Pennsylvania and Michigan, to seek out Rich’s expertise. Wembley is extremely proud to have Rich Mostardi as the leader of our tennis program. Robert Golsmith, USPTA Certified Pro
Robert Golsmith is a certified PTR & USPTA Tennis Pro with 30+ years of professional teaching experience. As a junior player, he attended the famed Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy and the Billie Jean Tennis Camp. During his college days Robert played #1 singles and #1 doubles for division III Thiel College.
In 1995, Robert was ranked in top 20 of the USTA Middle States Men’s Open Singles division (PA, NJ, & DE). As a professional teaching pro, Robert was the Director of Tennis at the renowned Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh (8 years) and Director of Tennis of the Oakwood Club in Cleveland Heights (18 years). In 2013, Robert was honored with the Distinguished Achievement in Leadership Award by Boardroom Magazine. In addition to teaching at Wembley, Robert runs the summer tennis program at the Chagrin Valley Country Club.
Sherif Abohabaga is Wembley’s newest addition to the tennis teaching staff. Beginning when he was 12, he played on the Egyptian national team, all the way until he was an adult. This included a run to the World Cup in 2008 where his team placed 13. Continuing on in his career, he played 3 years in the German League. At the age of 20, he took his talents to Southwest Baptist University to play Division II College tennis on a full scholarship. In 2015 he received the Freshman of the Year award for his conference, then was the Player of the Year the next 3 years. He was the NCAA Player to Watch in 2016, which he followed up with winning the Regional Tournament in singles, and a fifth place finish in the NCAA Finals. He was ranked #1 in singles, #2 in doubles in his region, and an All American 2016-18. His highest NCAA Ranking in Division II was #3, and his highest ITF ranking was 268. He and his team made it to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament in 2017. Outside of his season, he continued his success on court while playing for the Lasers, Springfield WTT (World Team Tennis), which included winning the King Trophy in 2018. Sherif is adored by players of all levels, and ages! We are so happy to have him as part of our team!
